Is it me, or does Christmas not feel like Christmas anymore? Commercials, movies, malls, Wal-Mart, Target…it’s just really hard to find the Christmas spirit this year. I can’t put my finger on it. Sometimes, I look back and wish I was 10 years old again. I miss the feeling of getting two weeks off of school at Christmas. I miss the anticipation of Christmas coming, even though it was 7 days away. I want the feeling back of not being able to go to sleep on Christmas Eve, knowing that just 18 steps from my bedroom lay the results of my letters, pleas and petitions to Santa Clause. I miss waking up on Christmas morning to the aroma of coffee and sausage biscuits perforating throughout the house, and seeing my grandma in the kitchen, knowing that she would be the first one to wish me a Merry Christmas. I miss the Saturday trips to the store with my dad, so I could shop for my mom and buy her nothing that she wanted. I know that I would still get the smile from her on Christmas day when she opened the box of horrible smelling perfume and her telling me that she loved it. I miss fighting with Renee on who got to play Santa that year.
We still have traditions in our family for Christmas. Calling each other on Christmas Eve and Christmas day to say “Christmas gift” first, even though there is no prize, it’s the principal of the matter! Taking the time to watch everyone open their gifts one-by-one to show off who got what, and watching National Lampoons Christmas Vacation on Christmas night quoting the entire movie. We also have the traditional (started 3 years ago) trip to Denny’s at 11:00 on Christmas Eve to get breakfast. I enjoy the traditions, but also like starting new ones. I guess I will have to see what ones we can come up with this year.
Any suggestions?

My five favorite Christmas movies of ALL time!
Hey all, I thought I might share with you my five favorite Christmas movies. I will go down the list for you and explanation why!
Movie number 1
How can you not love the Muppets? I watched it last night and had a hard time deciding if this was number 2 or 3.
Movie number 4
Movie number 1
How could you not love this movie? The Griswold’s…They are America’s family! Cousin Eddie…need I say more? If you can’t remember a line, just ask. I can recite the entire movie!
Movie number 2
Movie number 2
This is a feel good movie, and I honestly think Tim Allen is a very good Christmas movie actor! I recommend to watch it.
Movie number 3
Movie number 3
How can you not love the Muppets? I watched it last night and had a hard time deciding if this was number 2 or 3.
Movie number 4
Again, another Tim Allen movie. But get this, Tim Allen, Dan Akroyd, Jamie Lee Curtis. That makes for a really funny, good Christmas movie!
And last but not least…number 5
And last but not least…number 5
I give you Will Farrell, and he does not even get naked in this movie (thank goodness). I really like this movie, because it is not overdone with comedy like his normal movies.
I suggest you find time to rent these if you don’t own them, or give me a call and come over and watch. You are always welcome to come over and watch a Christmas movie with me at the house!
Just ask Jessica!

Precipitation equals job security…
Well, I can be the first one to tell you that Insurance never sleeps. While all of you were nestled all snug in your beds Monday morning, I was on the road at 6:15 a.m. driving to work. While I love cold weather, I really hate ice. I love snow, but in Oklahoma, one day of snow equals 3 days of ice. 2 days of cold rain and night time temps at 29 degrees equals 5 days of ice.
In some aspects, it’s good. I know this sounds bad, but the more accidents that occur, the more secure my job is. Here is my question…Do I feel bad for the idiots in their SUV’s, Suburban’s, and Trucks when they slide off the road and cause damage to their vehicles? My answer…NO! 4 wheel drive does not mean, “My vehicle is impervious to ice”.
Jessica and I are without power right now. Last night, Jessica added 4 blankets to the bed and flannel pillow cases. She made a very comfy bed. We bought candles and batteries for flashlights. We have plenty of firewood for the fireplace and good friends that have offered their house if worse comes to worst! We were lying in bed last night and Jessica said, “this is kinda fun…it won’t be tomorrow, but right now it is.” I was thinking “yeah, this is fun, but wait till the house is 20 degrees in the morning, and then we’ll talk”. I hope Faith is OK and keeping herself warm under all the blankets.
At work right now, we are running solely off generators. Half the building does not have power and the other half is overloaded with people from upstairs. It is a load of fun…like I said earlier, Insurance never sleeps.
Hopefully we get power sometime soon and ICE STORM 2007 will be behind us!!
